A Simple Martini
I like martinis. But I’ll be honest, I’m snobby when it comes to my drinks. I like things simple, and if my drink is only going to have 2 or 3 (if you count the lemon) ingredients, they better be good ones. When I’m slinging martinis in Maine I like to use Hardshore or Cold River Gin (gluten free too!). In Colorado I’m partial to Woods or Leopold Bros. And East or West, Hendrick’s is always great. I also really like a couple fingers of a more botanical gin, but those don’t lend themselves to a clean martini so I save them for a solo appearance at another time.
How do I take my martini? In the winter I prefer it stirred, and in the summer shaken (I like the ice flecks when it’s hot outside). And always, ALWAYS, with a twist of lemon.
I leave the olives to Marshall.
* A shaken martini will slightly water down your drink and “bruise” the gin. Stirring your drink will keep your gin more true to it’s nature. No judgments from me either way you choose.
